Once Again, an Explanation of 'Who Is the Christ?'
To explain who this Christ really is, "This Jesus God raised up again, to which we are all witnesses. Therefore having been exalted to the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, He has poured forth this which you both see and hear. For it was not David who ascended into heaven, but he himself says: 'THE LORD SAID TO MY LORD, SIT AT MY RIGHT HAND, UNTIL I MAKE YOUR ENEMIES A FOOTSTOOL FOR YOUR FEET.' (Psalm 110:1) Therefore let all the house of Israel know for certain that God has made Him both Lord and Christ -
The psalmist wrote: "I have made a covenant with My chosen; I have sworn to David My servant, I will establish your seed forever and build up your throne to all generations. I also shall make him My firstborn, the highest of the kings of the earth" (Psalm 89:3, 4, 27) This is speaking of the Christ, who is indeed Jesus, the righteous descendant of David.
Jesus also explained who He is when He spoke to His followers, He said: "Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was born, I am." (John 8:58) "I am the door of the sheep. I am the door; if anyone enters through Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture. I am the good shepherd; the good shepherd lays down His life for the sheep." (John 10:7, 9, 11) "I and the Father are one." (John 10:30) "I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in Me will live even if he dies, and everyone who lives and believes in Me will never die." (John 11:25) "And I, if I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all men to Myself." (John 12:32) "I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me." (John 14:6) "I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser." (John 15:1)
